About the Saavedra Lab

Position Overview
The Research Assistant will play a crucial role in day-to-day lab operations while also having the opportunity to develop their own research project. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience before pursuing graduate school, medical school, or other scientific career goals. Experienced candidates may be considered for a Lab Manager position with corresponding compensation.
Responsibilities
- Mouse Colony Management: Oversee and manage the mouse colony.
- Lab Management: Order and organize inventory to ensure smooth lab operations.
- Research Support: Collaborate with researchers to support various research projects.
- Lab Meetings: Attend and actively participate in lab meetings, sharing updates on your work.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
- Animal Handling: Willingness to work with live animals, specifically mice.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
