Key Responsibilities

As an IP Analyst at Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd., you will be at the forefront of strategic decision-making. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Invaluable Insights: Collaborate with US and Ex-US business teams by offering relevant product information, IP scenarios, and potential launch dates in target countries.
  • Uncovering Business Opportunities: Identify potential business prospects by analyzing the IP landscape across different countries, including variations in salts, dosage forms, and other critical parameters.
  • Challenging Constricting Patents: Identify legal grounds and prior art to challenge constraining patents. Work closely with the legal team to build robust arguments for patent invalidation.
  • Crafting Formulation Strategies: Proactively suggest practical design-around strategies for formulation/process patents. Evaluate the potential for literal and Doctrine of Equivalents (DoE) infringement.
  • Creating Comprehensive Patent Landscapes: Develop detailed patent landscapes for both US and Ex-US markets, shedding light on existing IP trends, potential competitors, and unexplored territories.

Patent Filing and Freedom-to-Operate (FTO)

  • Streamlined Patent Filing: Manage the patent filing process to safeguard our in-house inventions and innovative solutions.
  • Assessing Infringement Risks: Generate Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) reports to evaluate potential infringement risks.
  • Database Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing various US and Ex-US IP databases, including official country-specific platforms and paid resources like Scifinder, Ark, IPD, Orbit, and more.

Desired Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • An M. Pharmacy degree in Pharmaceutics from a reputable institution.
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience as an IP analyst, patent agent, or in a related role.
  • A profound understanding of intellectual property laws and principles.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex technical and legal documents.
  • Familiarity with patent filing procedures and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various US and Ex-US IP databases.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • A demonstrated proactive approach and self-motivation.
