Job Roles and Responsibilities

Medical Coder, Senior Medical Coder, and QA – ED / EM / Denials

Experience: 1 – 5 Years
Designation: Medical Coder, Senior Medical Coder, QA

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to patient charts using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-CPT coding classification systems in accordance with coding rules and regulations.
• Abstracting the required clinical information.
• Having thorough knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology, Medicare’s Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), official coding guidelines for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-CPT, and documentation requirements for correct and accurate coding.
• Demonstrating the ability to maintain high-quality standards of 95% or greater.
• Being proficient in utilizing technology (Encoder, CAC, MS Office, EMRs) to perform responsibilities.
• Having strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Having experience in handling trauma cases and highly complex cases (orthopaedics and cardiology are preferred)

Qualifications

To qualify for these roles, candidates must have:

• Certifications: CCS or CPC certification is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of coding experience in ED/EM/Denials.
• Education: A minimum graduation in Life Sciences or medical sciences.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
