2. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)
Establishment and Objectives
NIPER-Mohali, established in 1998 under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, was the first institute of its kind. NIPER-Mohali paved the way for the establishment of six more NIPERs across the country, including NIPER-Hyderabad. These institutes were created to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals and researchers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Being the pioneer institute, NIPER-Mohali set the benchmark for excellence in pharmaceutical education and research. It acted as a catalyst in elevating the standards of the pharmaceutical sector in India. NIPER-Mohali’s contributions and achievements have been instrumental in shaping the subsequent NIPERs, including NIPER-Hyderabad.
Expansion with New NIPERs
Recognizing the need for specialized education and research in the pharmaceutical field, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DOP) took the initiative to establish more NIPERs. These institutes are strategically located across the country to cater to regional demands and promote local talent in pharmaceutical sciences.
NIPER-Hyderabad: Inception and Location
NIPER-Hyderabad started its journey on 19th October 2007, operating from the premises of the former R&D Centre of IDPL in Balanagar, Hyderabad. This well-planned location provides a conducive environment for research and collaboration with the industry. Since its inception, NIPER-Hyderabad has been committed to achieving excellence in pharmaceutical sciences and contributing to the overall growth of the field.
3. Junior Research Fellow Position at NIPER-Hyderabad
Job Description
NIPER-Hyderabad is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an ICMR-funded project. The project titled “Identification of molecular reprogramming landscape of pre and post neoadjuvant chemotherapy in Gastric Cancer and its therapeutic implications” will be led by Dr. Santosh Kumar Guru.
Project Details
The project aims to explore the molecular reprogramming landscape in Gastric Cancer patients before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. By understanding the alterations in gene expression and signaling pathways, the study aims to identify potential therapeutic targets and improve patient outcomes.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Junior Research Fellow position, candidates should hold an M.Sc. degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or any branch of Life Sciences. Alternatively, candidates with an MBBS, BDS, MS Pharm, M.Pharma, ME, or M.Tech degree are also eligible.
Desirable Qualifications
Candidates with relevant experience in molecular biology, cell culture techniques, and expertise in transgenic animal experience will be preferred. Additionally, candidates who have cleared the CSIR-UGC-NET-LS exam are also eligible to apply.
Salary and Benefits
The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive a salary of Rs. 31,000 per month, along with a 27% House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per ICMR rules. This remuneration package ensures that candidates are rewarded for their expertise and contribution to the research project.
