Job Opportunity: Junior Research Fellow

The college is currently inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a research project funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The project, titled “Design, Evaluation and Optimization of Novel Oral Drug Delivery System for Treatment of Leishmaniasis – Targeting M-Cells in Peyer’s Patch,” will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shailesh T, a lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutics at JSS College of Pharmacy. The position is available for a period of three years.

Research Project: Designing Drug Delivery System for Leishmaniasis

The research project aims to develop a novel oral drug delivery system for the treatment of Leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease. The focus of the project is on targeting M-cells in Peyer’s Patch, which can enhance the efficacy of drug delivery. The project presents an exciting opportunity for aspiring researchers to contribute to the development of innovative drug delivery systems and make a significant impact in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

To be eligible for the Junior Research Fellow position, candidates should possess an M.Pharm degree in Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutical Technology with a first-class distinction. Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). Additionally, candidates with experience in the development of nanoparticles or novel drug delivery systems will be highly regarded.

Project Tenure and Stipend

The selected candidate will be required to join the Department of Pharmaceutics immediately and work for a period of three years. The stipend/fellowship for the position is as follows: for the first two years, the candidate will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 31,000.00 plus 18% House Rent Allowance (HRA), amounting to a total of Rs. 36,580.00. For the third year, the stipend will be Rs. 35,000.00 plus 18% HRA, totaling Rs. 41,300.00. The stipend is in accordance with the rules and regulations of ICMR.

Opportunity for Ph.D. Registration

The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to register for the Ph.D. program at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, following the institution’s procedures. Pursuing a Ph.D. alongside the research project will enable the candidate to further enhance their knowledge and research skills while contributing to the academic community.
