Job Responsibilities

Coding & Compliance

• Code professional services (diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers) accurately from medical records.
• Assign ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes with appropriate modifiers.
• Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM guidelines, CPT conventions, CMS updates, and AHA Coding Clinic.

Quality & Productivity

• Maintain a coding speed of 12 charts per hour while ensuring accuracy.
• Regularly update knowledge with AMA, AHA, CMS guideline revisions.
• Modify CPT codes for minor surgical procedures, vaccines, and labs.

Regulatory Standards

• Comply with HIPAA and company confidentiality policies.
• Check NCCI edits and modify codes based on LCD & NCD rules.
• Assist in process improvement and teamwork collaboration.

Required Qualifications

Educational Background

• Life Science or Allied Medicine Graduates (B.Sc, M.Sc in Life Sciences, BPT, B.Pharm, Nursing, etc.)
• Certification: AAPC (e.g., CPC) or AHIMA (e.g., CCS, RHIT)

Experience

• Minimum 2+ years in E&M medical coding.
• Strong exposure to Emergency Department and Critical Care coding.
• Knowledge of MDM-based EM level determination and NCCI edits.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, human anatomy, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS.
