About the Role
As a Medical Coding Certified Fresher at R1, you will be responsible for assigning accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures using the ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding systems. Key Responsibilities
In this role, your day-to-day activities will include:
- Assigning ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensuring codes are accurate and follow insurance and regulatory guidelines.

- Communicating with clinical staff regarding unclear documentation.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Any graduate with a degree in Life Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, or equivalent.
- Certification: Completion of a coding program with certifications such as:
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CPC-A (Certified Professional Coder – Apprentice)
- CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
